We’re working with a well-established, multidisciplinary consultancy to recruit a talented Civil Engineer for their Gloucester office. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of development-led infrastructure projects and progress towards a Principal Engineer position within a growing and supportive team.
The Role
The successful candidate will lead the design and delivery of civil engineering projects across the commercial, residential, and industrial sectors. You’ll be responsible for producing and reviewing designs, liaising with clients and local authorities, and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and delivery of infrastructure projects.
- Produce Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, and Service Reports.
- Design foul and surface water drainage systems and SuDS using MicroDrainage and Civil 3D.
- Prepare detailed designs for roads, earthworks, and external works using AutoCAD.
- Undertake vehicle swept path assessments using AutoTrack.
- Liaise with stakeholders to secure approvals (S104, S185, S278, S38).
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians to support team development.
- Ensure project delivery to agreed timescales, budgets, and quality standards.
About You
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- 3+ years’ experience in civil/infrastructure design within a consultancy environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of drainage, highways, and earthworks design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with sound commercial awareness.
- Chartered or working towards CEng (MICE) status.
- A proactive team leader who enjoys developing client relationships and supporting others.
