A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Birmingham is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to support the delivery of residential infrastructure projects across the West Midlands and wider UK. This role offers hands-on involvement in highways and drainage design, increased technical responsibility, and clear progression within a growing consultancy.
The practice provides civil and structural engineering services to developers, housebuilders, and private clients. The majority of projects are within the residential sector, ranging from small housing schemes to large-scale developments with full adoptable infrastructure. Projects are delivered across Birmingham, the West Midlands, and surrounding regions, providing long-term workload stability and technical variety.
The Role
- Design of residential roads and drainage infrastructure
- Preparation of adoptable highways and drainage layouts
- Technical design for planning, detailed design, and construction stages
- Delivering schemes to adoption under Section 38, Section 278, Section 104, and Section 106 agreements
- Producing drainage strategies, calculations, and technical reports
- Liaising with local authorities, statutory undertakers, developers, and contractors
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and technicians
- Managing technical quality, deadlines, and workload priorities
About You
- 5+ years’ experience within a UK civil engineering consultancy
- BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering
- Strong background in residential infrastructure design
- Proven experience delivering highways and drainage schemes to adoption
- Proficient in Civil 3D and MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage
- Solid understanding of UK standards, approvals, and design guidance
- Commercially aware with strong communication skills
- Based in or able to commute to Birmingham (or willing to relocate)
