A growing building services consultancy is looking to appoint an Intermediate or Senior Electrical Engineer to join its expanding design team on a fully remote basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer looking for long-term flexibility while continuing to work on technically challenging projects across a variety of sectors. Location is flexible across the UK, provided the successful candidate can travel into London when required for surveys, meetings, and site visits.

The business is particularly interested in candidates with a contractor design background and is open to supporting further professional development and qualifications for the right individual.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the design and delivery of electrical building services systems
  • Producing detailed electrical designs including lighting, small power, LV distribution, fire alarms, communications, access/security systems, and lightning protection
  • Carrying out cable sizing calculations using Amtech/ElectricalOM
  • Producing lighting calculations and layouts using Relux
  • Supporting concept design through to detailed design and construction phases
  • Assisting with CAD and BIM coordination using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Producing equipment schedules, technical reports, and design documentation
  • Responding to RFIs and supporting site-based problem solving
  • Attending client meetings and coordinating remotely with project teams
  • Liaising with suppliers and manufacturers to support design development

Technical Requirements

Candidates should have a strong understanding of:

  • BS 7671 and current Building Regulations
  • CIBSE Guides and industry standards
  • Electrical design software including Amtech/ElectricalOM and Relux
  • AutoCAD and Revit workflows
  • BREEAM and sustainable design principles

The Ideal Candidate

  • HNC/HND qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or similar
  • Degree qualified candidates are welcome, though this is not essential
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience within a consultancy or contractor design environment
  • Strong technical understanding of electrical building services design
  • Contractor design background would be highly advantageous
  • Comfortable working remotely and managing projects independently
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Keen to continue developing technically and professionally
