The Role
As a Civil Engineer, you will take responsibility for the design and delivery of civil engineering projects across a broad range of sectors. Key responsibilities include:
- Producing civil engineering designs from concept through to construction.
- Designing drainage systems, including foul water, surface water, SuDS, and below-ground drainage networks.
- Preparing drainage strategies, flood risk assessments, and supporting planning submissions.
- Undertaking highway, external works, and infrastructure design where required.
- Coordinating with architects, contractors, clients, and fellow consultants throughout project delivery.
- Attending site visits and supporting projects during construction.
- Delivering innovative, practical, and sustainable engineering solutions.
- Working independently while collaborating closely with an experienced and supportive team.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3–5 years' experience within a civil engineering consultancy.
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in drainage design, including surface water management and SuDS.
- A good understanding of flood risk, drainage strategies, and infrastructure design.
- A broad engineering design background and sound knowledge of relevant design standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to manage projects and build effective relationships with clients and project teams.
- A proactive attitude and a desire to take ownership of projects.
- Progress towards Chartership would be advantageous but is not essential.
