Salary: £27,000 - £32,000

Aztrum is working with a growing environmental consultancy based in Basingstoke that is looking to appoint an Environmental Consultant to support its expanding project workload. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in acoustic consultancy who wants to join a close-knit, specialist team where they can gain exposure to a varied range of planning-led environmental projects. The company works across noise, vibration, air quality, daylight/sunlight, lighting and odour assessments, giving consultants the chance to collaborate across disciplines rather than being limited to one narrow service line.

The successful candidate will be involved in delivering noise and vibration assessments for planning applications and developments, including residential and commercial schemes, plant noise assessments, site suitability surveys, vibration monitoring and wider environmental planning support.

The Role

As an Environmental Consultant, you will be responsible for supporting and delivering a variety of acoustic consultancy projects, including:

  • Undertaking environmental noise surveys and site visits
  • Preparing noise impact assessments for planning applications
  • Carrying out plant noise assessments and site suitability assessments
  • Supporting vibration monitoring and assessment work
  • Liaising with clients, local authorities, planners and design teams

Why Join?

This is a great opportunity to join a smaller, specialist consultancy where your work will have real visibility and variety. You will not just be another number in a large corporate structure; you will be joining a team where you can develop technically, take ownership of projects and work closely with experienced environmental consultants. The business is well positioned in the planning and development sector, supporting architects, planning consultants and property developers with technical environmental services. With noise assessments often delivered alongside air quality, daylight/sunlight, lighting and odour work, this role offers excellent exposure to broader environmental consultancy and the chance to contribute to well-rounded planning solutions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in acoustic consultancy
  • Experience undertaking noise surveys and preparing technical reports
  • Knowledge of UK planning-related acoustic guidance and standards
  • A relevant degree, MSc or IOA qualification would be advantageous
  • A full UK driving licence, as site visits will be required

Benefits

The successful candidate can expect:

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Opportunity to join a growing specialist environmental consultancy
  • Varied project workload across residential, commercial and planning sectors
  • Exposure to wider environmental disciplines
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Strong opportunity for technical development and career progression
  • Office-based role in Basingstoke with site visits across the region

This is an ideal role for an Assistant / Graduate Environmental Consultant who enjoys technical project work, site-based consultancy and planning-led environmental assessment, and who is looking to join a business where they can genuinely develop and make an impact.
