Role

The Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day financial operations and supporting the effective functioning of the finance department. The role requires strong bookkeeping expertise, a high level of accuracy, and confidence in managing month‑end processes, VAT compliance, and cross‑border accounting activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage day‑to‑day bookkeeping, including bank journals, reconciliations, invoicing, supplier payments, expense tracking, and payroll journal support.
  • Complete month‑end close: bank, control and intercompany reconciliations; journals (accruals, prepayments, adjustments); project cost allocation and profitability support; provide reconciled data for management accounts.
  • Manage invoicing queries, chase payments, maintain AR ageing, and liaise with internal teams to resolve customer issues.
  • Maintain AP ledger, post and code supplier invoices, prepare payment runs, and reconcile supplier statements.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns; maintain records for audits and tax reviews.

  • Operates at a senior level in bookkeeping, applying established expertise to day‑to‑day financial activities.
  • Manages double‑entry bookkeeping and oversees month‑end processes.
