Trusted technical lead for a portfolio of mid-market clients, owning relationships, technology roadmaps and the link between client business goals and Aztech delivery teams. This role sits at the heart of how Aztech delivers value to clients. As a Technical Consultant at Aztech, you are the trusted technical lead for a portfolio of clients. You own the relationship, you own the roadmap, and you make sure the technology we deliver is actually moving their business forward. You are not a salesperson with a quota. You are the person the client's leadership team calls when they need to make a serious technology decision, and they trust your answer because you understand both the tech and their business.

You will be supported by our service desk, project engineers, cybersecurity team and AI specialists. Your job is not to do everything yourself. Your job is to know your clients better than anyone, to bring the right Aztech expertise to the table at the right time, and to deliver clear, practical roadmaps that turn into real outcomes.

What you’ll actually do:

  • Own a portfolio of 8 to 12 SME & mid-market clients as their primary technical point of contact.
  • Build and maintain a rolling 12 to 24 month technology roadmap for each client, covering infrastructure, cybersecurity, modern workplace and AI adoption.
  • Run quarterly business reviews. Not slide-deck theatre, real conversations about what’s working, what isn’t and what should happen next.
  • Translate between the client’s business goals and our technical teams.
  • Make sure projects land properly and that what we build actually solves the problem.
  • Spot opportunities to add value, whether that’s a security gap, a process that could be automated, a licence we can rationalise or an AI use case worth piloting.
  • Be the escalation point for your clients, take ownership, see it through.
  • Work closely with our service desk, project managers, cybersecurity team and AI specialists to bring the right expertise to each client at the right time.
  • Keep accurate records in our PSA so the wider team knows what’s going on with each client.
  • Contribute to improving the role itself.

Who we’re looking for:

  • The strongest candidates for this role are people who have been IT Manager, Technical Consultant, Pre-Sales Engineer or Head of IT in a small or mid-sized business, somewhere between 50 and 350 users. You have lived the job our clients are doing.
  • 5+ years in an internal IT role, with at least 2 years as IT Manager, Head of IT or equivalent in a business of roughly 50 to 300 users.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra, Intune and the modern workplace stack.
  • Solid grounding in cybersecurity fundamentals. You don’t need to be a penetration tester, but you should know what good looks like and where most businesses fall short.
  • Comfortable owning budgets, vendor relationships and renewal cycles.
  • Genuinely good with people. You can sit in front of a CEO, a finance director and a frustrated end user in the same day, and have all three feel heard.
  • Clear, direct communicator. You can explain a technical problem to a non-technical board without dumbing it down or hiding behind jargon.
  • UK-based, willing to travel to client sites across the UK and to our Milton Keynes office.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in a regulated sector (financial services, healthcare, legal, manufacturing).
  • Exposure to Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001 or similar frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience deploying or governing AI tools (Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT Enterprise, custom agents).
  • Previous experience working with or for an MSP.
  • Relevant certifications. We value real-world experience over alphabet soup, but MS-102, AZ-104, SC-200 and similar all help.

What this role is not:

  • It is not a sales role. You will help us grow accounts by being genuinely useful, not by pushing things clients don’t need.
  • It is not a service desk role. You won’t be reactively fixing tickets all day.
  • It is not a project management role. We have PMs for that, you partner with them.
  • It is not a senior engineer role hiding under a different title. The technical depth matters, but the value is in the consultancy, the relationship and the roadmap.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Performance-related bonus tied to client outcomes and retention, not pure revenue.
  • Hybrid working, with Milton Keynes as the home office. Client visits across the UK as needed.
  • 25 days holiday plus.

How to prepare for a job interview at Aztech IT Solutions

Know Your Clients Inside Out

Before the interview, research the company and its clients thoroughly. Understand their business goals, challenges, and how technology can help them succeed. This will allow you to demonstrate your ability to build strong relationships and tailor solutions that truly meet their needs.

Showcase Your Technical Expertise

Be prepared to discuss your experience with Microsoft 365, cybersecurity fundamentals, and AI tools. Bring examples of how you've successfully implemented technology solutions in previous roles. This will show that you have the technical depth needed for the role while also being able to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.

Communicate Clearly and Confidently

Practice explaining complex technical concepts in simple terms. During the interview, focus on clear communication, ensuring that you can convey your ideas without jargon. This is crucial as you'll need to engage with various stakeholders, from CEOs to end users, and make sure everyone feels heard.

Prepare for Real Conversations

Expect the interview to involve discussions about real-world scenarios rather than just theoretical questions. Be ready to talk about how you would handle specific client situations, run quarterly business reviews, and translate business goals into actionable technology roadmaps. This will highlight your consultancy skills and practical approach.
