About The Role
Reports to Head of Client Forecasting & Analytics. The Master Anaplanner will design, build, and maintain advanced Anaplan models to support fund administration processes, including carry and waterfall calculations for private equity and alternative investment funds. This role requires deep expertise in Anaplan architecture, financial modelling, and integration with upstream/downstream systems. The role will partner with client-facing, operations, and technology teams to deliver scalable, accurate, and auditable solutions for complex fund structures.
Accountabilities
- Model Design and Development: Build and maintain complex Anaplan models for waterfall calculations. Ensure that models adhere to best practices for performance, scalability and ongoing maintainability.
- Best Practice & Framework Management: Develop and maintain global standards and models for complex waterfall calculations accommodating a diverse range of fund structures (e.g., European vs. American, whole‑of‑fund vs. deal‑by‑deal, multi‑level waterfalls). Provide a robust, scalable and auditable offering.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimise model performance, ensuring efficient calculations and minimal latency. Troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly.
- Governance & Standards: Establish and enforce modeling standards, data governance, and security protocols. Maintain documentation for models, processes, and integrations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders including client‑facing teams, operations, technology and transformation teams. Distil business requirements and deliver modelling solutions. Provide training and support to end‑users and other model builders.
- Client Analytics & Bespoke Reporting: Move beyond standard reporting to deliver valuable insights to clients, including scenario analysis (e.g., future waterfall projections), performance attribution, and other bespoke analytics that support client decision‑making and fundraising activities.
- Training & Upskilling: Develop and deliver specialised training and masterclasses for Fund Accounting and Client Service delivery teams to enhance their understanding of waterfall principles and calculation methodologies, fostering a culture of excellence and knowledge sharing.
Leadership Requirements
- Technical Authority: A trusted subject matter expert in Anaplan model construction, user experience and data integration.
- Capability Builder: Develops this specialist capability across the organisation through coaching, training, and the creation of best‑practice frameworks and tools.
- Operational Influencer: Shapes and aligns service delivery and technology roadmaps to support a best‑in‑class analytics and modelling function balancing control with client‑centric outcomes.
- Change Advocate: Promotes and drives automation and innovation, championing the adoption of new technologies and processes to enhance client value and operational efficiency.
Technical Skills
- In‑depth understanding of how to design, build, implement and refine complex financial models.
- Proficiency in Anaplan integration tools (Anaplan Connect, APIs).
Experience & Qualifications
- Certified Master Anaplanner or Professional Model Builder.
- 3-5 years of experience in Anaplan model building and architecture.
