About the role:

Reports to the Financial Reporting Manager

What you\’ll be doing

  • Assist with all aspects of accounting matters, supporting and assisting with the preparation, reconciliation and proofing of investor reports, statutory financial statements and ad-hoc investor requests
  • Develop an increasing client presence, taking a lead in regular client calls and correspondence
  • Assist with the completion of routine audit queries and some aspects of company secretarial matters including preparation of filings for regulatory bodies
  • Prepare periodic bank reconciliations and provide or source supporting documentation evidencing transactions
  • Prepare drawdown and distribution calculations plus notices on an ad‑hoc basis when requested by clients
  • Ensure Aztec internal control frameworks are followed in full
  • Maintain accurate records on company systems and Microsoft Excel working paper schedules for all aspects of bookkeeping
  • Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of periodic direct and indirect tax returns to the extent relevant
  • Assist and support the induction, integration and training of junior staff.
  • Support with and/or complete fund administration processes as required.

What we\’re looking for

  • The candidate will be expected to be studying towards a relevant professional qualification (preferably having commenced ACCA Fundamental Skills level or ACA Professional level)
  • 2+ years previous experience in Accounting or Audit, ideally in the alternative funds sector (either in‑house with a fund manager or a fund administrator)
  • Sound technical knowledge of UK GAAP and reporting required for the alternative funds sectors
  • Computer literacy, word processing and spreadsheet skills are essential
  • Strong collaboration skills and passionate team player
  • Good interpersonal skills are required to develop close working relationships with colleagues, clients and business contacts
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced entrepreneurial environment with a \’can‑do\’ attitude
