At Aztec, we’re committed to building and nurturing a diverse and inclusive workforce where everyone feels valued, respected, and able to grow. We know that different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences strengthen our business and we welcome applications from all individuals. So, if your experience doesn’t exactly match with every part of the job description, but you are excited about the role, we would still like to hear from you. If you are passionate, curious, innovative and data driven, you could still be a good fit.

About the role:

The Director of Technology Office & Delivery will be responsible for the disciplined execution of Aztec’s technology book of work and the operating backbone of the technology function. The role provides engineering portfolio and delivery oversight, business operations management, financial, vendor and SOW governance, and ensures portfolio compliance with risk and control policies. The Director of Technology Office & Delivery will align execution to a lean agile operating model and give the CTO, ExCo and Board clear, evidence-based visibility of delivery, quality, cost and risk so that technology can scale with the business without linear headcount growth.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Portfolio & Delivery Governance: Own the technology book of work end to end, covering intake, prioritisation, quarterly planning, delivery standards and PMO disciplines. Run the monthly book of work reviews in partnership with Product PMO, manage dependencies, RAID, decision logs and milestone governance, and coordinate transformation delivery across pillars.
  • Technical Delivery Management: Oversee execution against the agile operating model. Track performance against KPIs and drive the Technology 360, facilitate status reporting to the CTO and key forums, ensure scrum formation, estimation and agile best practice, provide the central view of technology headcount and talent, and unblock teams to keep delivery moving.
  • Financial, Vendor & SOW Governance: Coordinate budget planning, forecasting and spend visibility, and support capitalisation and benefits tracking inputs. Manage vendor performance, SOW standards, renewals and contractor optimisation, and own partner dependency management across strategic suppliers to protect value and reduce cost of change.
  • Compliance, Audit, Risk & Control: Ensure portfolio compliance with risk and control policies. Support internal and external audit, lead SDLC compliance root cause analysis and thematic reviews, and operate the control effectiveness framework with clear metrics and monitoring of adherence to SDLC policy.
  • Operating Cadence, Reporting & Metrics: Run leadership routines, portfolio reviews and operating business reviews. Provide self-service KPI and OKR dashboards, governance calendars, CTO reporting and ExCo/Board materials, and drive a consistent communication cadence that gives leadership evidence-based visibility of delivery, quality, cost and risk.
  • Workforce, Standards & Engagement: Own role taxonomy, workforce and location planning, contractor/FTE mix and capacity planning aligned to the organisation design. Maintain the technology policy and standards inventory with adoption monitoring, and lead internal communications, townhalls, the tech hub and innovation and engagement programmes for the function.

Leadership Requirements:

  • Influential Leadership: Collaborative and inclusive, building trust and driving performance and effective risk management across pillars and delivery teams.
  • Commercial Mindset: Drive the technology portfolio with clarity of commercial outcomes, spend discipline and value realisation.
  • Delivery-Focused Operator: Bias to action, removing blockers and holding teams to execution best practice, quality and predictable delivery.
  • Analytical Problem Solver: Creative and data oriented when developing and positioning analysis and solutions to problems.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience leading technology delivery, PMO or portfolio management in complex, multi-jurisdiction environments.
  • First hand experience running agile operating models, book of work governance and delivery KPI/OKR frameworks.
  • Breadth of knowledge across delivery governance, financial, vendor and SOW management, workforce planning, and SDLC compliance and controls.
  • Proven track record of improving delivery predictability, quality and cost through disciplined portfolio and vendor governance.
  • Certification in delivery and portfolio frameworks e.g. SAFe, Scrum, PMP, MSP, and proficiency with Jira and delivery tooling.
  • Degree in computer science, engineering, business or related field.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills able to engage different audiences on delivery, risk and trade-offs.
  • Strong partnership and collaboration skills, building relationships internally and externally.

We will provide the training, both in house for relevant technical knowledge and also professional qualifications to enhance your professional development.
