International medical graduates welcome! We are looking to employ experienced healthcare practitioners and associate practitioners to join our Practice Support Services programme. We are seeking caring and compassionate individuals who enjoy interacting with people. Candidates must be warm and friendly, with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a genuine passion for providing high quality care and support. The successful candidates will be self-motivated, well organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Proven experience in working in a caring role, in either a paid or voluntary capacity, is essential for this position.

Salary: Β£12.21 an hour

Contract type: fixed term - 9 to 12 months

Full Time and Part Time Job share (20 hours a week will be offered to 2 candidates)

Successful candidates will be responsible for demonstrating leadership and best practice in providing a variety of functions:

  • Sorting clinical documents and prioritising actions for clinicians and admin team
  • Extracting relevant information from clinical letters and adding to patient notes
  • Arranging appointments, referrals, tests, and follow-up appointments
  • Preparing patients by taking brief history and basic readings
  • Performing tasks such as urine dipping, blood pressure measurement, ECGs, and phlebotomy
  • Completing basic forms for GP approval, such as insurance and mortgage forms
  • Explaining treatment procedures and arranging follow-up appointments
  • Assisting GPs in liaising with outside agencies and on-call doctors
  • Supporting GPs with immunisations and wound care
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to data protection regulations when handling sensitive information
  • Following health and safety protocols, identifying risks, and reporting potential hazards
  • Treating patients, carers, and colleagues with respect, recognising their rights, privacy, and dignity
  • Contributing to maintaining quality standards and identifying areas for improvement in practice protocols
  • Effectively communicating with team members, patients, carers, and outside agencies
  • Applying practice policies, guidelines, and standards
  • Discussing their impact with the team and participating in audits when required.

Working with a dynamic group of other Practice Support Services programme team members to champion quality and safe personal, physical and emotional care delivery. Successful candidates will be offered ample opportunity for career development along with support to access functional and leadership skills training.

Person Specification:

  • Experience in customer/patient care and working in a customer/patient-facing environment.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to compile and analyse statistical information.
  • Experience with clinical systems (e.g., EMIS) is desirable.
  • GCSE/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, or detailed patient services knowledge.
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations and work independently or as part of a team.
