The role

The purpose of the IT infrastructure team is to provide structure, control, and monitoring of the functions responsible for diverse technical operations which generally involve hardware, software, and networking in both physical and virtual environments.

The main goal is to minimise downtime, maintain business productivity and optimise business processes with technology.

The IT infrastructure team is responsible for managing the physical and virtual hardware that supports the systems, networks, and storage necessary for IT service delivery. This includes maintaining IaaS solutions, servers, system security, network & WAN management, integration platforms, installing and patching hardware, monitoring assets, and configuring, deploying, or provisioning servers.

In addition to the general infrastructure the team is responsible for the applications, processes, and platforms that support IT and business functions. This includes configuring, installing, and maintaining software, as well as database management, preventing downtime, disaster recovery, and deploying and integrating new technologies.

Focused on technical implementation, maintenance and support of IT projects.

Key accountabilities

  • Coordinate with the project manager at the earliest opportunity to identify IT requirements
  • To be the technical lead for the project delivery team.
  • To project plan and take ownership of the IT stream within the project
  • To identify the necessary infrastructure change and create the necessary change requests
  • Provide technical assistance to the project delivery team as required
  • To escalate any potential issue to the management team
  • Implement required changes to system in with the agreed deliverable
  • To coordinate with 3rd parties when requirement to give access to systems
  • To hand over any new systems or changes to BAU
  • To assist where required into the D&SA gate 2 and gate 3 process

  • Help advice and identity automation efficiency that the business might not have considered

  • To have a level of product ownership, responsible for certain areas of infrastructure

Skills & experience

Communication: works both independently and as part of a team and following the organisations standards; competently demonstrating an ability to communicate both in writing and orally at all levels, using a range of tools and demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness when dealing with colleagues, customers and clients during all tasks.

IT Security: Demonstrates the necessary skills and behaviours to securely operate across all platforms and areas of responsibilities in line with organisational guidance, legislation

Remote Infrastructure: Effectively operates a range of devices and securely add them to a network in accordance with organisations policies and procedures

Data: effectively records, analyses and communicates data at the appropriate level using the organisation\’s standard tools and processes and to all stakeholders within the responsibility of the position

Problem solving: applies structured techniques to common and non-routine problems, testing methodologies and troubleshooting and analyses problems by selecting the digital appropriate tools and techniques in line with organisation guidance and to obtain the relevant logistical support as required

Workflow management: works flexibly and demonstrates the ability to work under pressure to progress allocated tasks in accordance with the organisation\’s reporting and quality systems

Performance: Optimises the performance of hardware, software and Network Systems and services in line with business requirements

  • Practical working knowledge and understanding of a range of networking and connectivity to maintain a secure and performant network
  • Advanced experience and knowledge of operating relevant security practices
  • Advanced experience and knowledge of operating the change management processes
  • Advanced experience of maintenance processes and applies them in working practices
  • Advanced experience and knowledge of how to operate remotely and securely
  • Advanced experience and knowledge of Cloud and Cloud Services
  • Advanced knowledge and understands the importance of disaster recovery and how a disaster recovery plan works and their role within it
  • Understands and complies with business processes
  • Working knowledge of business IT skills relevant to the organisation

  • Technical knowledge and experience of AWS Infrastructure (IaaS), Azure infrastructure (IaaS), Active Directory Management, Active Directory Group Policy, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Office 365 Management, Microsoft Endpoint Management (Intune), Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft Teams admin, Microsoft Exchange online, Cisco Meraki, Firewalls & Switches, Cisco Meraki Wifi, Palo Alto security appliance, Boomi integration platform, Netscaler, Microsoft SQL Management, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft Windows Server maintenance (Server 2016+), Networking intermediate to advanced knowledge (VLANs, VPNs and routing), TOCA RPA tool, Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, Citrix, Microsoft app-v, Powershell, Microsoft Office application management, Mimecast
