As a Corporate Tax Manager, you will lead the delivery of corporate tax services, managing client portfolios and ensuring compliance with UK tax regulations. You will oversee teams, provide technical advice on complex tax matters, and support tax planning and advisory projects. Your role ensures exceptional client service and contributes to business growth.
- Client Focus: Is able to respond to client queries relating to role with minimal input from others. Demonstrates a clear understanding of clients’ business, objectives, challenges and risks sufficient to brief more junior colleagues on assignment and direct work accordingly. Demonstrates a broad understanding of client/customer market and environment and understands the importance of driving new business. Manage flexible working of self and assistants based around client needs and business deadlines. Reviews WIP on a monthly basis to ensure that fees are raised for any work that is completed or at a billable stage and that any doubtful time that may not be recovered is adequately provided, by updating CCH with the required provision. Gain experience of winning new work through input into the preparation of proposals, fee quotes and attending client tenders.
- Technical Excellence: Committed to developing knowledge in specialist area and actively communicates/feeds back salient areas to team members. Delivers departmental training and development initiatives. Maintains up to date technical knowledge and awareness of wider business advisory opportunities through technical reading and attending in house departmental seminars, to identify potential issues and emerging opportunities in own and other service areas of the business.
- Attention to Detail: Demonstrates a commitment to developing team members by assigning challenging work ensuring to give support where appropriate and necessary. Empowers team members to think independently. Is able to make rational and informed decisions even if they may appear unpopular. Is able to process constructive feedback and take ownership of their mistakes and performance.
- Decision Making: Confident in taking decisions within agreed remit. Deals with instances of colleagues failing to adopt core values and respect by either addressing or escalating to senior team members when aware. Suggests solutions to problems rather than waiting for suggestions from senior colleagues. Supporting managers in delegated aspects of team management such as sickness reporting and holiday approvals. Participate in the interview and selection process for new junior hires.
- Efficiency: Challenges and assesses client fee levels against job recovery trends. Challenges existing approaches and offers alternative suggestions to deliver work more efficiently without compromising quality of output. Champions new technologies aimed at improving quality and efficiency and takes the lead in departmental implementation of them.
- Technical Skills: Review complex corporation tax returns and larger groups. Manage a large portfolio of clients with complex needs, showing evidence of building relationships with the client, good communication skills with the audit and ABAS team to ensure workflow is efficient and within client's expectations. Able to manage conversations with client teams relating to adherence to minimum pricing for CT, develop pricing strategies for clients for review by senior team. Manage ongoing advisory projects on own client portfolio, with support from the partner or director. Demonstrates ability to use the firm’s resources to research complex technical issues, arriving at a conclusion for review by more senior team members. In respect of advisory work, responsible for completion of the tax advisory checklist for sign off by Partner / Director. Attending pre year / completion meetings for clients. Keeps abreast of changes to tax legislation, contributes to regional marketing plans, proactive relationship with clients to ensure changes are communicated effectively. Review final tax packs / transmittal letters for more complex clients, manage more senior review and approve for issue to client. Managing a team of people, delegating appropriately, ensuring team have the required skills and exposure to work. Generating leads with potential new clients and demonstrating ability to secure new work.
