The Role

As a Private Client Tax Director, you provide strategic leadership, offering expert advice on complex personal tax planning and compliance matters. You will oversee significant client portfolios, drive business development, and mentor senior team members. Your role focuses on delivering exceptional client service and advancing the firm’s growth and reputation.

  • Have a broad knowledge of the more technical aspects of other services lines – be able to spot and talk at a high level about matters outside of own service line.

Technical Skills

  • Takes the lead on complex compliance work and complex ad-hoc advisory, taking ultimate responsibility for approach, fee, direction and assessment of risk and response.
  • Responsible for identifying and pursuing growth opportunities/initiatives to support departmental growth targets.
  • Managing assignments across local regions to deliver assignments within timelines and budgets.
  • Strong understanding of the different revenue streams available to the service line and being proactive to maximise on those opportunities.
  • Identifies opportunities for cross-sales to other non-departmental service lines to provide a joined-up service to clients.
  • Continuously looking for opportunities to expand internal and external network.
  • Continuously reviews department processes and leads the continuous evaluation of these with efficiencies, innovation, and improvement at the forefront.
  • Leads the way for change, innovation and technological advances for the wider team.
  • Acts as an advocate for smarter working and actively looks for solutions to support with this.
  • Actively involved alongside other directors/partners with department strategy and future planning.
  • Has responsibility for leading a specific area(s) of strategy/operations within the department.
  • Resource planning and developing an integrated approach to maximise the potential of the team and revenue streams.
  • Actively supports with recruitment and building a team to fit the requirements of the service line.
  • Actively monitors that clients are assigned the correct legend and risk rating, ensuring that fees are in line with minimum pricing.

  • Supports managers with identifying and addressing any underperformance or inefficiency within the team.

Qualifications

Holds an accountancy and/or tax qualification or qualified by experience (e.g. ATT/CTA/ACA/ACCA/CA).

Essential Experience

It is expected that the above core and technical skills will have been developed through study alongside work experience in an accountancy practice.
