We are looking for a hands‑on, experienced Senior Accounting Manager to lead the European Accounting team for Sample Management Solutions. The role reports to the Global Accounting Director and focuses on ensuring compliance with local and US accounting principles, maintaining a robust SOX environment, and overseeing all monthly and quarterly accounting activities for the UK and European entities.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee accounting processes for the UK & European entities.
- Manage general ledger accounting, financial information provision, and controls implementation.
- Lead month‑end closing activities; ensure reliable & timely book closure and preparation or review of reports for internal and external reporting.
- Ensure high‑quality account reconciliations; perform detailed balance‑sheet reviews and verify balance explanations.
- Coordinate with external auditors, financial & tax advisors to submit statutory financial statements and local requirements.
- Maintain SOX compliance and other finance controls in partnership with Internal Audit and external SOX auditors.
- Liaise with shared‑service global process owners on Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable, and other general accounting matters.
- Address queries on financial accounting, Treasury management, and payment run releases.
- Collaborate with business operations; provide guidance and clarity on complex accounting matters.
- Drive process and system improvements to increase team productivity, accuracy, and control environment.
- Provide coaching and guidance to team members to achieve high performance and a positive work environment.
Qualifications
- Qualified Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Progressive accounting experience; strong technical US GAAP and UK/IFRS knowledge.
- Experience with large‑scale ERP systems; knowledge of Oracle Cloud and OneStream preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proven record of collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
- Process focus and improvement mindset; Six Sigma and/or Lean training plus strong project‑management skills.
- Experience working in a global, SOX‑compliant environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to multi‑task in dynamic environments.
- Self‑starter with effective time management, organizational and prioritisation skills.
- Strong analytical/problem‑solving skills; detail‑oriented; able to work independently to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate a sound work ethic, respect, cultural sensitivity, and awareness.
- Sense of urgency and self‑motivation with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
Working Conditions / Schedule
- Hybrid – Manchester (aligned to company policy: 4 days in office); occasional travel may be required.
