We are currently seeking an experienced Hotel Repairman ready to join the cruise vessel AZAMARA ONWARD and AZAMARA JOURNEY under the following terms:

  • Embarkation: ASAP
  • Contract Duration: 6 months ±1

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in the position, preferably on cruise vessels
  • All valid and up-to-date certificates, including a valid Schengen visa
  • Good professional references and recommendations

Position Summary:

Responsible to carry out the daily maintenance and cleaning of engines and mechanical equipment as directed by the Engineer in charge.

Reporting Structure:

Reporting to the Staff Engineer and on duty Engineer.

Safety Duties:

  • Participates in crew safety drills according to instructions.
  • Must always comply with the Company’s safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures.
  • Leads by example by taking care of Health and Safety of self and others.
  • Ensures that all work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices are being used correctly.

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Valid STCW 95 certification.
  • Valid ASE Certification A-III/5.
  • Good knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, operation and maintenance of vessel machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Experience with stripping engines down and rebuilding.
  • Experience on vessels in an equivalent position.
  • Physically and medically fit.
  • Moral integrity is required.

Language requirements:

Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Additional languages are considered beneficial.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Required to stand, walk long distances, reaching and sitting.
  • Repetitive motion of bending, going up and down stairs, climbing ladders.
  • Lifting or pushing of up to 50lbs.
  • The position requires overtime work and irregular schedules.
  • Works in the Engine Control Room, Engine spaces with noise, light traffic, distracting environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance, repair, overhaul of hotel equipment and machines in the ship's galleys, bars, pantries, laundry, ship's accommodations, guest & crew areas.
  • Be capable of operating various motorized machine shop tools including drill press, lathe, grinder, etc.
  • Carry out fabrication and repair to various steelworks, including aluminium and stainless steel.
  • Carry out welding including TIG and MIG as needed.
  • Fabricate, install and repair general plumbing systems and components, working in steel, copper and various composite metals.
  • Certificate or Diploma in area of technical specialty.
  • Three or more years progressive technical experience and training on board a cruise vessel or in a resort environment with minimum 2 years operations experience with Power Generation, Sewage Treatment Plants, Incinerators, Potable Water Production and heavy operating equipment.
  • Previous experience in an international environment.
  • High level of spoken/written English.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
