Tremendous permanent opportunity for an Asset Risk Manager to lead the team that set and review our residual values and maintenance budgets. This is in addition to providing analysis of registration and fleet data, along with maintaining and recommending policies to meet Ayvens risk appetite. We use manufacturer and projected performance data, providing insight and recommendation into our Pricing propositions while monitoring our competitive position in the marketplace.
Primary Purpose
- Manage residual values, maintenance pricing, used-car leasing propositions, contract modification processes, and the excess-mileage database—supporting teams to meet customer needs while ensuring all requests are delivered within agreed SLAs.
- Recommend and refine Asset Risk policies to ensure alignment with the company’s risk appetite, communicating changes clearly and effectively across the business.
- Lead cross-functional, long-term projects, providing analysis and insight to drive strong commercial and operational outcomes.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the setting of residual values and maintenance budgets on a weekly and quarterly basis, and suggest alternative processes of setting values where appropriate.
- Assess risk and provide guidance on tactical and commitment opportunities, providing regular feedback to senior management on exposure and impact to forecast profits and loss.
- Manage the contract modification process, owning the core calculation methodology and leading automation and process-improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Periodic analysis of industry data, ALD residual values for new and used vehicles, disposal performance and current fleet, highlighting areas of risk and recommending policy changes.
- Ensure product and market knowledge is kept up to date to enable considered residual value setting for new models and assist with vehicle queries from the wider business.
- Monitor the forecast profits and losses on Residual Values and make recommendations to management as to changes in pricing policy.
- Set team priority to support the delivery of business projects.
- Ensure pricing accuracy for all internal and external quoting systems, including partner and digital quoting tools.
- Continually review processes and procedures with the aim to eliminate errors, identifying development opportunities for time saving, efficiencies, error reduction and improved ways of working.
- Manage the relationships with the ALD SA Pricing team and ensure completion of quarterly proposals in line with agreed timescales.
- Ensure the appropriateness of our maintenance proposition and make recommendations to the maintenance committee on alternative solutions to increase contract penetration.
- Provide input to the management of key 3rd Party Service Providers to ensure that market pricing is reflective in our budget setting.
Skills, Experience & Background
- Highly numerate with excellent analytical skills & a strong attention to detail.
- Strategic and innovative thinker with the imagination and ability to reason outside immediate (traditional) confines, in order to apply a logical approach to problem solving.
- Proven line management experience within Financial Services, particularly the automotive sector.
- Ability to plan and delegate effectively to drive progress towards strategic objectives.
- Experience of developing individuals & teams, encouraging ownership, collaboration, creativity and personal empowerment.
- Encourages and facilitates colleagues to take ownership of their own development of immediate skills & knowledge and also longer term personal and career development.
- Identifies and seizes opportunities, getting others to buy-in to the change and seeing it through to completion by maintaining positivity, energy and drive.
- Experience within pricing roles or similar disciplines involving management and analysis of large data sets.
- Experience RV/SMR setting.
- Understanding of commercial business drivers and basic concepts of finance business management.
- Planning, prioritising and meeting deadlines in a fast paced and complex environment.
- Experience in managing and communicating with a range of stakeholders, including at Board level and outside the Finance department.
- Clear and confident communicator with the ability to positively influence at all levels across the business.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently, asking for support or input from colleagues wherever required.
- Resilient and results driven with the ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Competent user of Microsoft Excel (comfortable with pivot tables, nested formulas, key functions including VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, IF, SUMIF, SUMPRODUCT etc.).
