We’re looking for an experienced Risk Operations Manager (Credit Team) to lead our credit underwriting team, located in Lyde Green, Bristol (BS16 7LB). This role ensures credit decisions are made consistently, fairly and in line with policy, regulation and risk appetite, while delivering a strong customer experience. You’ll manage a team of underwriters handling regulated, non‐regulated and corporate lending decisions. You’ll be responsible for credit quality, decision‐making standards, service levels and team performance, while working closely with Credit Risk and Compliance to ensure policies and controls are applied effectively.

The Key responsibilities for the role are:

  • Lead and manage the Credit underwriting team, including performance and development
  • Oversee end‐to‐end credit decisions for onboarding and ongoing reviews
  • Act as the main point of contact for credit‐related escalations
  • Ensure all credit decisions meet internal policy and UK regulatory requirements
  • Manage workflows to deliver agreed service levels and quality standards
  • Maintain clear audit trails and robust credit documentation
  • Complete regular quality checks, controls and credit reviews
  • Keep credit policies and procedures up to date and recommend improvements
  • Drive “right first time” decision‐making and continuous improvement
  • Support and deliver projects that improve credit processes and the customer journey
  • Build strong working relationships across credit, risk, compliance and relationship teams

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience leading teams within credit or risk operations
  • Strong communication skills, able to influence senior stakeholders
  • Highly organised, with the ability to plan and prioritise in a fast‐paced environment
  • Track record of delivering service, quality and productivity targets
  • Strong knowledge of UK credit regulation and lending practices
  • Experience assessing and managing credit risk, including complex cases
  • Background in credit underwriting or a related credit risk role
  • Ability to interpret financial information and complex data
  • Experience improving operational efficiency while maintaining control
