This development opportunity is for a Band 6 SCPHN School Nurse within the Argyll and Bute HSCP School Health service. The role involves leading service change, embedding best practices, and demonstrating clinical effectiveness, sound decision-making, and change management skills.
You should have knowledge and experience with systems such as GIRFEC, Child Protection, and Care Experienced processes. Effective communication skills with children, parents, families, colleagues, and multi-agency partners (including Education, Social Work, and the third sector) are essential.
The role requires efficient and effective travel between various work locations within the Mid Argyll, Kintyre, and Islay localities to meet operational needs. Under the supervision of the Child Health Manager, responsibilities include leadership, team development, caseload management, and staff line management.
You will support the Child Health Manager in ensuring quality assurance, standards compliance, professional regulation, responding to complaints, staff governance, clinical supervision, and legislative frameworks aligned with national and board policies.
Demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills, adaptability, and flexibility are crucial. Leadership skills are necessary to provide professional guidance across the School Health teams.
It is important to stay updated on SCPHN school nursing practices and developments in the field, making necessary changes to clinical practice. This is an exciting period as we enhance the contribution of School Nursing and work towards implementing the specialist pathway to improve outcomes for children and young people (ages 5-19).
