Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour
16hrs per week, extra shifts available to cover A/L and sickness, this may include sleepovers.
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Care Assistant / Support Worker to assist a gentleman who lives in his own apartment. The gentleman is 49 years old and has MS and requires assistance with all aspects of his daily care needs. The primary role will involve supporting him with all his routines, including all personal care needs and social support. This will include continence care. This is a double handling role, so you will work alongside another carer specifically around transfers using a tracking hoist.
Experience working in care would be an advantage to this post but training will be provided. The client has a Suprapubic Catheter and is also Peg Fed; training for these will be provided. Along with personal and social care duties, some light housework duties are required. The client has his own car, which is adapted for wheelchair use and will be used for any social activities and appointments he needs to attend, so a clean driving licence will also be an advantage to this post.
Shifts Available to be Covered:
- 8am – 2pm
- 2pm – 8pm
- 9am – 10am
- 7pm – 8pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with personal care and night-time routines
- Assist with medication
- Provide assistance with mobility and transfers (double handling)
- Encourage and support independence where possible
- Catheter care experience preferred, but training can be given
- Experience of peg feeding preferred, but not essential as training can be given
What We Offer:
- Initial contract will be 6 months leading to permanent after probationary period.
- Flexible working hours to suit the service user's needs.

- Ability to work as part of a team.
As part of the role, you are required to undergo an update of the PVG scheme and present two references, one from your last employer. PVG costs will be covered by the employer.
