Personal Employer in Dreghorn is seeking a P/T Personal Assistant/Companion for 9 – 12 hours per week. The days and hours (earliest start 9.30am / latest finish 8.00pm) will be discussed at the interview. The rate of pay is £13.45 – £14.59 per hour.
Duties:
- Provide personal care assistance, social support, and companionship to a young woman living with Multiple Sclerosis who is wheelchair dependent.
- Support with personal care including hair washing, showering, continence care, dressing, breakfast preparation, and medication prompting.
- Perform essential hygiene housework tasks such as clearing dishes, laundry, and bed making.
- Assist with food preparation and batch cooking.
- Help with shopping tasks, putting away grocery deliveries, attending appointments, and accessing the wider community (e.g., clubs, events, cinema, ten-pin bowling, meals out).
- Assist with taking a small pet dog to the groomers or vets if required.
- Maintain the employer’s confidence and independence while supporting social interaction.
Qualifications & Expectations:
- Friendly, cheery, easy-going, sociable with a genuine interest in supporting independence.
- Must be comfortable with a small friendly pet dog.
- Understanding of MS and experience working with clients with physical disabilities is desirable.
- Preferably a driver with a current driver’s licence, use of own car, and business insurance.
- Wage rate includes travel allowance; mileage costs covered for work-related travel.
- Must undergo a new PVG Disclosure at the employer’s expense and supply 2 reference contacts prior to appointment.
- 6-month probationary period; 1 week’s notice during probation if the post does not work out.
