2 P/T Female Personal Assistant support worker / Drivers
Location: Ochiltree, funded by ILF.
Hours: 10 hours per week per worker. 7 days per week shifts; 3‑hour shifts per shift. Rota: 1 weekend on, 1 weekend off. Times will be discussed at interview. Also required to assist covering other staff annual leave.
Salary: Living wage rate – £13.45 per hour.
Job Purpose
To work closely and flexibly with a lady who has MS to ensure she is appropriately supported with her day‑to‑day needs. She receives home‑care staffing four times per day to assist with her personal care. This role provides companionship, assists with meals, and takes her out in her wheelchair‑adapted vehicle to participate in activities and pursue her hobbies when she is able.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the lady according to her personal choices and the guidance of her husband.
- Provide companionship and run errands, including meals, outings, and other activities.
- Assist with and accompany the lady in her manual wheelchair and wheelchair‑adapted vehicle (manual drive).
- Learn safe procedures for moving the chair in and out of the car.
- Work evenings and weekends as assigned, following a rota of one weekend on and one weekend off.
- Help with other tasks as needed during the week to cover staff annual leave.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience supporting people to fulfil their potential and lead active lives.
- Clean UK driving licence (manual car).
- Working knowledge of good person‑centred practice.
- Experience in a supportive, compassionate role.

- Understanding of how to support and facilitate in a way that empowers the person.
- Good interpersonal skills and values reflecting social inclusion.
- Excellent and effective communication skills.
- Excellent listening skills.

- Understanding of the crucial role that family carers play and the value of their contribution.
Experience
- Experience positively supporting someone as a peer or in a similar capacity.
- Ability to engage effectively and work in partnership with others.
Personal Qualities
The ideal candidate has a good sense of humour, is down to earth, enjoys friendly banter, is a good listener, and is dog‑friendly (family have two Labrador dogs). The candidate must be physically fit to assist with moving the wheelchair and chair.

- Going out for walks with the Labradors, in her wheelchair.
- Going for a drive.
- Out for a cuppa or cake.
Additional Requirements
Applicants will undergo a new PVG Disclosure (or update) at the employer’s expense and provide two reference contacts before appointment. There is a 6‑month probationary period, with a one‑week notice within that period if the post does not work out.
