Overview
Male Personal Assistant / Support Worker (P/T). Hours: 2.5 hours per day over 4 days per week. Start time flexible between 08:30 and 09:30; days flexible – to be discussed at interview. Rate of pay: £13.45 per hour. Location: Ayrshire area (Ardrossan, KA22 8DG).
Responsibilities
- Provide support to a teenage boy with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy who requires 24/7 care for all daily needs including bathing and toileting.
- The client is immobile and uses a power chair.
- He can feed himself but cannot prepare food due to muscle weakness, so assistance with meal preparation is required.
- The boy also has a diagnosis of ASD with social communication challenges; build a rapport and maintain a supportive, sociable environment.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Support recreational activities such as watching movies, going out, and gaming.
- The family has a large family dog.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Experience with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and ASD preferred.
- Ability to follow care plans and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Patient, respectful, and able to build a trusting relationship with the client.
