Temporary Personal Assistant / Relief Support Worker.
Location: Irvine.
Rate of Pay: £14.59 per hour.
Hours: 18 hours per week (temporary sickness cover) with additional casual hours available for holiday and absence cover.
Working Hours
The role is for 18 hours per week, working six hours per day on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Shifts are typically from 9.30am or 10.00am until 3.30pm or 4.00pm. Some flexibility is required to meet the needs of the individual and to provide additional holiday and sickness cover when required.
About the Person You Will Support
The gentleman has a mild learning disability and is Neurodiverse. He enjoys leading an active lifestyle and maintaining his health and fitness. He regularly attends swimming sessions, goes to the gym, enjoys ten-pin bowling, walking, and participates in an exercise group run by the Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT). He also enjoys music, going to the cinema, attending concerts, and taking part in activities within his local community. He is a friendly and personable individual who enjoys social interaction and meaningful activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- You will support and encourage the gentleman to participate in community activities and events while promoting independence, choice, dignity, and inclusion.
- You will encourage him to make choices and decisions about his daily activities, provide companionship, and engage in face-to-face conversation.
- You will be expected to treat him as an individual, recognising and respecting his unique needs, preferences, and interests.
- The role may involve providing support on occasion with personal care and supporting or supervising medication in line with agreed guidance and training.
- You will be responsible for reporting any concerns to the family, ensuring appropriate safeguarding procedures are followed, complying with health and safety requirements, and attending support sessions at the agreed times.
Essential Requirements
- Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
- They should be friendly, positive, patient, flexible, and reliable, with good communication skills and a commitment to supporting people to live independent and fulfilling lives.
References and PVG
The successful applicant will be required to provide two up-to-date references, one of which must be from their most recent employer. The post is subject to membership of the PVG Scheme and a satisfactory Enhanced PVG check prior to appointment.
Probationary Period
This post is subject to a six-month probationary period.
