The Gentleman suffers from poor mental health and is moving into his own tenancy and beginning an exciting new chapter towards independent living. We’re looking for a kind, patient, and reliable Support Worker to help him feel safe, supported, and confident in his own home.

This role is about encouragement, reassurance, and helping him to take pride in himself and his surroundings, while offering emotional support and keeping an eye on his wellbeing.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting Him with his transition to independent living
  • Helping him maintain his home, including light household chores and changing bed linen
  • Encouraging and supporting good personal hygiene
  • Motivating him to take pride in his home and personal space
  • Encouraging movement, hobbies, and interests where possible
  • Providing emotional support and companionship
  • Ensuring he is safe and well during support visits
  • Reporting any concerns to family members and the social worker when needed

Essential Criteria

  • A caring, friendly, and patient nature
  • Ability to encourage independence while offering appropriate support
  • Good communication and observation skills
  • Reliable and trustworthy
  • Willingness to work as part of a wider support network
  • Must be eligible for PVG membership (or willing to apply)

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience in a support worker, care, or similar role
  • Understanding of supporting someone in their own home
  • Interest in encouraging hobbies, activities, and wellbeing

PVG Requirement

This role requires membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Support will be provided to apply if you are not already a member.

Probationary Period attached, 6 months to this post. During this period, either party can end the employment by giving the other one weeks’ notice.
