Job Overview: We are looking for a kind, reliable, patient Personal Assistant to provide support to a lady in her late 50s who has a mild learning disability and some physical health issues. The role involves assisting with both personal and non-personal care, as well as providing social support to help her maintain independence and participate in activities she enjoys.
Key Responsibilities
- Personal Care Support: Assisting with showering, hair care, and nail care; providing support with dressing (if required); offering reminders to bathe and shower.
- Household & Daily Living Support: Helping with shopping and budgeting; assisting with cooking and meal preparation; supporting with light household tasks such as laundry and cleaning.
- Social & Community Support: Encouraging and assisting with getting out and about in the community; supporting participation in social activities and hobbies.
Ideal Candidate: We are looking for someone who is patient, caring, respectful, reliable, trustworthy, willing to learn and take guidance, comfortable working in a home environment, and motivated to support someone to live a full and meaningful life. A positive attitude and a genuine desire to help others are more important than previous experience. Two up-to-date reference contacts are required, one of which must be from a current or previous employer. In addition, a new PVG enhanced disclosure will be required prior to appointment (disclosure cost to be met by the employer). Probationary period attached: 6 months. During this period, either party can end the employment by giving the other one week’s notice.
