Job Purpose: We are looking for a motivated and supportive Personal Assistant (PA) to provide consistent, person‑centred support to a young adult, helping her maintain independence and build confidence across various areas of her life. This role involves practical support at home and out in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meal Preparation & Healthy Eating
    • Assist with planning and preparing healthy meals
    • Support batch cooking sessions to ensure the person has nutritious meals ready during the week
    • Encourage food safety and independence in the kitchen
  • Domestic Chores
    • Support with general tidying and household routines
    • Help change bedding and maintain a comfortable living environment
  • Medication Support
    • Offer friendly reminders to take medication at the prescribed times
  • Shopping
    • Accompany the person to the supermarket or local shops
    • Help her top up her snack box in her bedroom and her locked fridge box
    • Encourage budgeting skills and decision‑making
  • Physical Well‑being
    • Accompany and encourage her to attend the gym or engage in light physical activity (as appropriate); walking, exercise classes, etc.
    • Provide motivation and emotional support to maintain a healthy lifestyle
  • Social & Emotional Support
    • Encourage participation in social outings, such as going to the cinema or visiting local events
    • Offer support to visit her grandfather, helping maintain family and community connections
  • Appointments & Practical Help
    • Escort and support her during medical or other essential appointments
    • Ensure she feels confident, informed, and in control during appointments
  • Identified Personal Outcomes
    • Staying as well as she can – support with regular batch cooking and healthy shopping
    • Encourage physical activity (e.g., gym visits or walking)
    • Attend and support during medical appointments to promote health management
    • Improved skills and confidence – actively encourage her independence and build her self‑belief, support her in practising and developing life skills (e.g., cooking, shopping, communication), offer positive reinforcement and celebrate progress to boost her confidence

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Friendly, supportive, and encouraging approach
  • Ability to work independently and build a trusting relationship
  • Experience in providing support to people with additional needs is desirable
  • PVG scheme membership or willingness to apply
  • Good communicator, reliable, and organised
  • Flexible and able to support out in the community and at home
  • Post subject to successful reference and PVG checks
  • Two up‑to‑date reference contacts required, one from a present or previous employer
  • New PVG enhanced disclosure required prior to appointment (disclosure cost to be met by the employer)
  • Probationary period of 6 months; during this period either party can end the employment by giving the other one week’s notice
