Support Worker / Befriender (Male) x 2 Ref: 02/Ayr/JL

Pay: £12.60 per hour
Responsibilities and duties
- Male Support Workers (x 2) required to befriend and support a 34 year old man who lives in his own home in Ayr. Provide support throughout the day, personal care and various health activities to support wellbeing. Some basic admin skills required to assist in diary planning and daily/monthly reporting. The gentleman has mobility issues and learning disabilities. He uses a wheelchair when out and about and requires significant assistance with manoeuvring this.
- Social support: May include assistance to attend the local swimming pool regularly; attend other social events as required including football games, walks, days out, cinema and general socialising.
- Household tasks: Prepare breakfast, lunch and evening meals; make hot drinks and snacks; light cleaning (e.g., surfaces cleaned, dishes washed and put away after meals).
- General tasks: May include going to the local shops and assisting with shopping.
Requirements and expectations
- Confidentiality and respect for the employer’s privacy is essential, as care and support provided within the employer’s home.
- There is 5.6 weeks annual leave (including Public Holidays) attached to the post; shifts will vary week to week in line with the employer’s needs. Flexibility to help out when other staff are off on leave or sick.
- Job descriptions and rota are based on the employer’s needs and may change in the future according to support needs.
- Employer has their own vehicle and drivers; a current clean driver’s licence is preferred.
- Successful applicant will be required to provide 2 up-to-date reference contacts and undergo a new or updated Protection of Vulnerable Groups Disclosure.
- There is a 6-month probationary period with 1 week’s notice within this time if the post is not working out.
- Previous experience in a caring role is advantageous but not required. This post is suitable for someone local due to late finishing times.
