Hours: 19.5hrs per week (You may also be required to cover holidays and sickness)
Proposed shifts: Mon – Thurs (3 afternoons) + Fri (7.30am – 2.30pm)

Personal Assistant / Companion required to work 19.5 hours per week Mon – Fri (hours to be discussed and finalised at interview). You may also be required to provide holiday and sickness cover for a part time member of staff. (POST will commence AUGUST 25)
You will support an elderly woman who resides in the Newmilns area, who has been living with Dementia for a number of years. Support will be required both in her home and on social outings. It is important to recognize that as much of the care you are employed to assist with will be provided within the lady’s home, confidentiality and respect for her privacy and that of her family is of the utmost importance.
Applicants must be patient / outgoing / chatty and easy to talk to and have the ability to provide emotional reassurance & support. Dementia experience is essential. The tasks you may be required to do will vary, according to the needs of the lady and will include the following:
Personal Care / Emotional Support:
Provision of Personal Care - including assistance to shower, get dressed and support to visit the bathroom. You will be required to assist at meal times including meal preparation. You will provide emotional support and ensure her safety and wellbeing. Please note that being left on her own causes her anxiety and emotional distress therefore it is essential that staff arrive for shift on time. Moving and Positioning and Medication Administration training / experience are essential.
Social Support:
You will provide companionship both within the family home, supporting her when friends visit and occasionally taking her out in her wheelchair. The lady enjoys a good conversation and her favourite television programmes include Miss Marple and Inspector Morse.
Experience / Qualifications Required
Experience of working with the elderly / Dementia is essential.
Driver with use of own car preferred but not essential ( if using your car for work purposes full clean driving licence and business insurance for your car required / fuel costs will be covered by the employer along with any other out of pocket expenses).
***This position is subject to a 6 month probationary period.
