About the role:
A young mother living as a single parent requires support to maintain her independence and care for her young family aged 10 and 9. A support worker who is a driver would be preferred. However, the lady uses an electric wheelchair and can be supported on and off public transport. The lady lives in a remote location in South Ayrshire. If you use the car for support, the lady out and about will provide fuel money at an agreed rate. She has two cats and is a smoker. She enjoys nature, swimming and quiet spaces, and does not like busy places. The odd night away may happen given time, so be aware this could be part of your role.
Responsibilities:
- Personal care assistance and support with washing and dressing in the morning.
- Stoma support experience advantageous.
- Assist with cooking wholesome family meals.
- Housework including laundry, bed changing, and hoovering.
- Flexible approach around school hours; occasional evening shift may need covering.
- Occasional night away may happen.
- Mornings support getting dressed and ready for the day, light housework.
- Afternoon support with cooking and helping to settle for the evening.
- Hours may change dependent on school holidays; advanced rota discussed and given a couple of weeks in advance.
Qualifications:
- Out-going personality, non-judgemental, and flexible.
- Enjoys family life and being in and around children.
- Experience with adults with disabilities and moving & handling, especially with an electric wheelchair.
- Driver's licence preferred but not required.
- PVG clearance required and two references (one from last employer).
Contract and Pay:
Pay: £12.60 per hour. 6-month probationary period. Contract of employment will be given. Holiday leave: 5.6 weeks per annum (depending on hours worked).
