2 P/T Female Personal Assistant Support Worker / Driver Position for a Lady in Ochiltree, funded by ILF. Requires 10 hours per week per worker, covering 7 days per week across two workers. Shift pattern: 3 hours per shift. Week 1: 3 days, Week 2: 4 days, rotating weekends one on, one off. Times to be discussed at interview. Salary: Living wage rate – £13.45 per hour.
Job Purpose
To work closely and flexibly with a Lady who has MS to ensure she is appropriately supported with her day‑to‑day needs. The role provides companionship, assists with meals, and takes her out in a wheelchair‑adapted vehicle to participate in a range of opportunities and develop hobbies and interests.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the lady and her husband with daily tasks and activities based on their guidance.
- Provide companionship at the lady’s home, including evenings when required.
- Assist with wheelchair mobility, including pushing the chair and loading/unloading in the car.
- Drive a manual wheelchair‑adapted vehicle to accompany the lady to outings.
- Contribute to a flexible shift schedule as needed.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience supporting people to fulfil their potential and maintain active lives.
- Clean UK driving licence (manual).
- Working knowledge of person‑centred practice.
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of how to support and facilitate empowerment for the person.
- Good interpersonal skills and values reflecting social inclusion.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Awareness of the crucial role of family carers and their contribution.
Must Have
- Full clean UK driving licence, able to drive a manual car.
- Physical fitness to assist wheelchair manoeuvring.
- Dog‑friendly, as family have two Labrador retrievers.
- Good sense of humour and a down‑to‑earth attitude.
Experience
- Experience or lived experience supporting a peer or someone with similar needs.
- Ability to engage effectively and work in partnership with others.
Personal Qualities
- Good sense of humour, ability to listen, and a pleasant conversationist.
- Comfortable with dogs.
