Job Summary

As a Fundraiser at the Ayrshire Hospice you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring we maximise our income and maintain the highest standards of donor and supporter care. Your work will be instrumental in enabling us to continue to provide specialist palliative care and services to people and families affected by life shortening illness across Ayrshire and Arran.

As a Fundraiser you will work collaboratively and support the Senior Fundraisers within the fundraising team with a range of fundraising within Individual Giving, Community and Events. You may also be responsible for leading on smaller campaigns and activities with support from the Senior Fundraising Manager and Fundraising Manager.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Directly support the organising and delivery of fundraising activities across the organisation.
  • Support the Senior Fundraisers with the promotion and logistics of key activities within the Ayrshire Hospice event programme.
  • Work with and support other members of the fundraising team to achieve team and individual targets.
  • To steward participants to take part in Hospice led and third-party fundraising events and activities.
  • Oversee and supervise involvement of volunteers.
  • Utilise the fundraising customer relationship management (CRM) system to maintain, develop and extend the registered donor information held in relation to fundraising events and corporate partnerships.
  • Record and input all key details and information of individuals, groups and businesses participating in fundraising activities.
  • Promote the work of the Hospice within the community by undertaking presentations to business and community groups, schools and other professional organisations to explain the work of the Ayrshire Hospice and the fundraising department.
  • Create opportunities for groups and organisations to directly donate to or raise funds in aid of the Hospice or to participate in a future Ayrshire Hospice fundraising event or activity.
  • Administer the placement, distribution and collection of the Ayrshire Hospice charity collection cans. Identify new venues and events where collection cans could be placed. Ensure collection cans are issued, collected and emptied in a controlled and secure manner and a relevant log/record maintained of the process. Co-ordinate volunteer input to support the distribution and collection of cans, providing advice and guidance to volunteers as required.
  • Co-ordinate the input of volunteer staff at fundraising events, ensuring appropriate manpower resources (employed & voluntary) are available to effectively support and execute each event. Determine work priorities for supporting volunteer staff and delegate work and tasks to volunteers as appropriate.
  • Receipt and process all cash donations and fundraising income received through the fundraising office ensuring all cash handling and counting is undertaken in line with Ayrshire Hospice cash handling and security procedures. Prepare all cash for onward transfer to the finance team, completing relevant supporting financial records.
  • To provide excellent donor care to supporters in order to develop productive and lasting relationships, inspiring supporters, both new and existing, to engage with us and raise funds for the Hospice through participation in our events.
  • Represent the organisation and uphold the organisations reputation and values.
  • Work closely with fundraising colleagues to ensure all fundraising activities are fully supported.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the Ayrshire Hospice for the benefit of our supporters.
  • Ensure compliance with the Ayrshire Hospice policies and procedures
  • To be flexible within the broad remit of the post and represent the hospice at key events & activities as directed by the Senior Fundraising Manager.

Person Specification

Education / Qualifications

  • SVQ Level 2 in Customer Service or Administration or relevant experience in a similar role is acceptable – Desirable.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a fundraising environment – Desirable.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Previous experience in dealing with face to face contact with customers and development of positive customer relations – Desirable.
  • Microsoft office experience – Desirable.
  • Confident in using a CRM system for supporter management and reporting – Essential.
  • Understanding of fundraising best practices – Desirable.

Ability/Skills

  • Excellent communication skills – written and oral. An ability to communicate confidently and clearly to a range of diverse audiences – Essential.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team and across the organisation – Essential.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise workload – Essential.
  • Highly organised with good attention to detail and record keeping – Essential.
  • Confident presenter and willing to travel to group events – Essential.
  • Full Driving license and ability to provide own transport – Essential.
