Overview

We are a children’s residential care provider supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and complex behaviours. We are recruiting an experienced Deputy Manager to join a well-established residential children’s home. This is an ideal opportunity for a Senior Residential Support Worker or Deputy Manager looking for clear progression to Registered Manager within 6 months, with structured support, training and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day management of a children’s residential home
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted Quality Standards and Children’s Homes Regulations
  • Lead shifts and manage daily operations of the staff team
  • Supervise, mentor and develop Residential Childcare Workers and Team Leaders
  • Support children and young people with EBD, SEMH and complex needs
  • Maintain accurate care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding records
  • Promote positive behaviour support and trauma-informed practice
  • Deputise for the Registered Manager and participate in the on-call rota
  • Attend multi-agency meetings, reviews and audits
  • Promote safeguarding, equality and inclusion at all times

Essential Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Experience working in a children’s residential care setting
  • Knowledge of Ofsted inspections, Quality Standards and safeguarding procedures
  • Strong leadership, shift management and communication skills
  • Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour
  • Emotional resilience and commitment to high-quality care
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management or willingness to work towards
  • Experience in therapeutic or trauma-informed residential settings
  • Experience working with EBD, SEMH or complex needs
