What You’ll Be Doing

  • Project Leadership & Technical Delivery
    • Lead the development and delivery of complex environmental permitting projects
    • Manage technical outputs—risk assessments, environmental permit applications, and regulatory submissions
    • Apply risk assessment tools (e.g. LandSim, H1) and understand how permitting interacts with environmental legislation
  • Team & Client Management
    • Support and mentor junior staff across project phases
    • Oversee task allocation, QA/QC processes, and knowledge transfer
    • Maintain and grow client relationships; provide strategic advice to stakeholders and regulators
  • Business Development & Strategic Growth
    • Prepare technical proposals, quotes, and fee estimates
    • Identify and secure new opportunities through existing and emerging client networks
    • Support growth of the Environmental Permitting team across the UK

What You’ll Need

  • BSc in Environmental Science, Geography, Geology, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in environmental consultancy or regulatory sectors
  • Deep understanding of UK environmental permitting frameworks and risk-based approaches
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel; confident in report writing and data management
  • Strong project management and communication skills
  • Experience with Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • MSc or relevant higher qualification
  • Chartered status (e.g., CIWEM, IEMA, or similar)
