Are you an experienced Business Development Manager within financial services with a strong understanding of investments and a real talent for building relationships? I’m currently recruiting for an established organisation that is looking to strengthen its commercial team with an experienced BDM covering the North of the UK. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being out in the market, meeting people, developing relationships and creating new business opportunities. You’ll have a good level of autonomy in the role, with the opportunity to build your network, manage your own territory and make a genuine impact on commercial growth.
The role involves:
- Developing new business and managing relationships across the financial services market.
- A mix of face-to-face meetings, telephone and video engagement.
- Developing and converting new business opportunities.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with professional clients and intermediary partners.
- Growing existing relationships and identifying new opportunities.
- Developing a strong understanding of your market and territory.
- Keeping up to date with market developments and competitor activity.
- Sharing relevant market insight with internal teams.
- Presenting propositions and solutions to senior stakeholders.
- Building relationships across a range of businesses within the wider financial services market.
- Working collaboratively with internal teams to support business growth.
- Negotiating and influencing effectively at senior level.
- Planning and managing your own diary, pipeline and priorities.
- Attending relevant industry events and meetings as required.
- Contributing to the wider commercial team through knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Travel across the North will be an important part of the role, with some additional UK travel required from time to time.
What are we looking for?
This isn’t a generalist BDM position. You’ll need strong financial services experience, good investment knowledge and a proven track record of developing business through professional relationships. You should have:
- A proven track record in business development within financial services.
- Experience working with professional clients, intermediaries or distribution partners.
- Good technical knowledge of investments and wealth products.
- Experience developing and converting new business opportunities.
- A strong understanding of the financial services market.
- Excellent relationship management and influencing skills.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Experience negotiating with senior stakeholders.
- Good commercial awareness.
- Strong planning, organisation and time management skills.
- The confidence and self-motivation to manage your own territory and workload.
- A willingness to travel regularly across your region.
Ideally, you’ll be centrally based in the North or North West and comfortable travelling across the wider region. Relevant knowledge of the UK regulatory environment would be advantageous. Most importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys being out in front of people, knows how to build genuine relationships and is commercially driven without losing sight of delivering a great experience for clients.
What’s on offer?
- £60,000–£75,000 depending on experience + Bonus.
- Monthly car allowance.
- Permanent position.
- North UK territory.
Sound like you? If you’re an experienced financial services BDM who enjoys being out in the market, building relationships and creating new business, I’d be keen to hear from you. If you have the investment knowledge, commercial experience and relationship-building skills to make this role a success, apply now or drop Ciara a message for a confidential chat.
Further details about the organisation and opportunity will be shared during the recruitment process.
