This is a newly created role focused on growing the specification and projects side of the business, working with architects, M&E consultants, specification practices, large contractors and project clients. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the specification marketing strategy and turn it into engaging, commercially focused marketing activity that generates genuine opportunities for the sales team.

The Role

You will own the end-to-end marketing activity across the specification and projects function, from audience insight and proposition development through to campaign delivery, lead generation, sales handover and pipeline measurement. You will work closely with Sales, Product, Technical, Creative and external agency partners to build the proposition, develop content and create campaigns that support business growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and owning the specification marketing strategy, target sectors, account priorities and activity plan
  • Building audience insight across architects, M&E consultants, contractors, specification practices and project clients
  • Developing clear propositions that communicate technical capability, expertise, service and reasons to specify the brand
  • Creating a content programme including CPDs, lighting education, technical thought leadership, case studies, project credentials and specification tools
  • Working closely with the Specification Director and sales team to identify target accounts and project opportunities
  • Developing campaigns across events, partnerships, PR, digital content, email and account-based marketing
  • Building effective lead capture, qualification, sales handover and reporting processes
  • Managing the specification marketing calendar and coordinating activity across Product, Technical and Creative teams
  • Briefing and managing specialist PR, content, research, design, digital and event agencies
  • Managing project budgets, timelines, deliverables and supplier performance
  • Ensuring technical content and claims are accurate and appropriately approved
  • Measuring marketing activity against engagement, leads and project pipeline

About You

We are looking for someone with strong B2B, specification, project or account-based marketing experience. You will ideally have experience of marketing to complex professional audiences and be comfortable translating technical products or services into compelling propositions and content.

You should have:

  • Strong B2B marketing experience
  • Experience developing thought leadership, education, case studies and lead generation programmes
  • Excellent project and agency management skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A commercial and data-driven approach
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong understanding of the importance of technical accuracy
  • Experience managing budgets and external suppliers
  • Confidence working across multiple projects and priorities
  • Experience with CRM, content management and PIM systems would be advantageous

Experience within lighting, electrical, construction, architecture or building services would be highly desirable, as would knowledge of specification routes, CPDs and project decision-making.

What’s on offer?

This is a great opportunity to join a supportive and growing marketing team and take ownership of a new area of the marketing function. You’ll have the autonomy to shape the specification marketing strategy, develop new campaigns and programmes, work closely with senior stakeholders and make a tangible contribution to the growth of the business.

The role offers genuine scope for progression and the opportunity to build something from the ground up. If you are a commercially minded B2B marketer who enjoys combining strategy with hands-on delivery and wants to take ownership of a growing specification and projects function, we’d love to hear from you.
