Axon Moore are delighted to be partnering with a large, highly successful business in Warrington as they look to appoint an ambitious Assistant Accountant to join their growing finance team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a driven and career-focused individual who is currently studying CIMA, ACCA or AAT, and looking to accelerate their finance career within a supportive and progressive environment.
Reporting directly to a talented and highly experienced Financial Controller, you'll receive excellent mentoring and development from day one, gaining exposure across the full management accounts process whilst building a strong foundation for future progression.
The Opportunity
Joining a well-established finance function, you'll initially take ownership of a high volume of bank reconciliations, making previous bank rec experience essential. As your knowledge and confidence grow, you'll become increasingly involved in month-end activities and broader management accounting responsibilities, creating a clear pathway for continued development and promotion. This role offers genuine variety, responsibility and the chance to learn from an exceptional finance leader who is passionate about developing talent.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Investigating and resolving reconciliation differences
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Assisting with accruals and prepayments
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting month-end close activities
- Producing financial reports and analysis
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Partnering with stakeholders across the business
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within finance
About You
- Studying towards CIMA, ACCA or AAT
- Previous experience in a finance role with strong bank reconciliation experience
- Ambitious, eager to learn and keen to progress your career
- Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
- Confident communicator with a proactive approach
- Able to manage priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
