The Role

This is more than just a management position. As CAD Design Manager, you'll lead and develop the CAD Design team while remaining actively involved in producing high-quality design schemes and customer presentations. You'll be responsible for driving departmental performance, ensuring design quality and supporting the ongoing development of both people and processes. Working closely with colleagues across Sales, Operations and Manufacturing, you'll ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to the highest standards while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, coaching and developing the CAD Design team
  • Managing workloads and resources to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard
  • Driving continuous improvement across design processes, systems and workflows
  • Producing high-quality 2D CAD design schemes and customer presentations
  • Working with customers to understand project requirements and develop practical, commercially viable design solutions
  • Providing technical guidance and support to the design team
  • Identifying project challenges and implementing effective solutions
  • Collaborating with internal departments to ensure projects progress smoothly from concept through to delivery
  • Maintaining accurate project and customer information within CRM systems
  • Monitoring team performance, setting objectives and supporting professional development
  • Ensuring compliance with company processes, quality standards and procedures
  • Analysing performance data to identify trends, improve efficiencies and support business decision-making

About You

We're looking for a proactive leader who enjoys developing people while remaining involved in the technical aspects of design. You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience managing, mentoring or leading a CAD or technical design team
  • Strong AutoCAD experience (or similar CAD software)
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships across the business
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Good analytical skills with confidence interpreting data and producing reports
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop would be advantageous but is not essential
  • An interest in AI and emerging technologies would be beneficial
