An established engineering and manufacturing business is looking for an experienced HR Manager to join the team on an initial 3-month contract. This is a hands-on, generalist HR role with a strong focus on Employee Relations. You will provide day-to-day HR support across the business, working closely with managers and employees and providing practical advice across a broad range of people matters.
The Role
Reporting directly to the HR Director, you will take responsibility for a range of generalist HR activities, with particular emphasis on Employee Relations. Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing a varied Employee Relations caseload, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters
- Providing practical and commercially focused HR advice to managers
- Supporting managers through the full employee lifecycle
- Advising on policies, procedures and employment legislation
- Supporting absence management and employee wellbeing
- Coaching and supporting line managers on HR and ER matters
- Assisting with HR projects and wider people initiatives as required
- Maintaining accurate HR records and ensuring processes are followed consistently
About You
We are looking for an experienced HR Manager or HR generalist who can hit the ground running and operate confidently in a fast-paced manufacturing or engineering environment. You will ideally have:
- Strong generalist HR experience
- Proven Employee Relations experience
- Confidence managing complex and sensitive HR cases
- Experience working with and advising line managers
- Good knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
- A practical, hands-on approach
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to work independently and prioritise effectively
- Previous experience within engineering, manufacturing or another operational environment would be advantageous
