Axon Moore are currently partnering with an established business in Preston to recruit an experienced Operations Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established organisation and play a key role in supporting the Group’s investment operations, cash management and financial reporting activities.

This is a varied and hands-on position, working closely with internal Finance teams and key external partners. You will be responsible for supporting a range of activities including unit-linked pricing, investment accounting, daily cash management, investment managers, and third-party funding and trading arrangements.

You will also play an important role in the Group’s statutory reporting, financial controls and external audit process, while identifying opportunities to improve, streamline and enhance existing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investment Operations & Cash Management
    • Support the oversight of investment accounting activities, ensuring transactions are accurately and efficiently recorded and accounted for.
    • Assist with the management and oversight of daily cash positions, working closely with Fund Managers and other key stakeholders.
    • Help ensure investment operations, cash management processes and associated controls operate effectively, with issues identified and resolved promptly.
    • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external investment partners to ensure the smooth delivery of operational activities.
  • Financial Reporting & External Audit
    • Support the statutory financial close process, ensuring key balance sheet accounts are regularly reviewed, reconciled and supported by appropriate documentation and evidence.
    • Ensure journals, accruals and financial statement disclosures are complete, accurate and delivered within agreed deadlines.
    • Provide support throughout the external audit process, ensuring information and supporting documentation are provided accurately and on a timely basis.
    • Support the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the financial control environment, ensuring key controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively.
    • Contribute to remediation activities and maintain high-quality supporting documentation, including process narratives and control matrices.
    • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy and quality of statutory reporting, reconciliations and financial close processes.
    • Support initiatives designed to increase automation, standardisation and consistency across financial reporting and control activities.

About You

You will be a qualified accountant with strong experience across investment accounting, financial reporting and operational finance. You will be comfortable working in a controlled, deadline-driven environment and confident in building effective relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
