Our client is looking to appoint a hands-on IT Manager to join a growing business during an exciting period of change. Reporting to the Head of IT & Facilities, this is a newly created opportunity designed to strengthen the IT function as the department evolves. Working within a small team, you'll become the go-to person for day-to-day IT support, systems administration and project delivery, taking ownership of operational IT activities while supporting wider technology improvements across the business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a broader role where they'll gain exposure to infrastructure, business systems, cybersecurity and digital transformation projects.

The Role

As IT Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting the business across all areas of IT, working closely with colleagues across multiple departments and external technology partners. Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 2nd and 3rd line IT support across the business.
  • Administering Microsoft 365 and Active Directory environments.
  • Supporting and maintaining core business systems including ERP, CRM and Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Working alongside external IT providers to resolve technical issues and deliver system improvements.
  • Supporting IT infrastructure, networking and cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Assisting with the implementation and roll out of new business systems and technology projects.
  • Supporting website and web-based applications where required.
  • Managing user accounts, permissions and hardware deployment.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency through technology.
  • Working collaboratively with departments across the business to understand and deliver IT solutions.
  • Supporting business continuity and disaster recovery processes.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, building relationships and taking ownership. You'll already have several years' experience within an IT support, systems or infrastructure role and be looking for an opportunity to broaden your experience within a growing business. You'll ideally have experience of:

  • Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Active Directory.
  • Windows desktop and server environments.
  • Networking fundamentals.
  • Cybersecurity best practice.
  • ERP systems (such as Sage, Oracle or similar).
  • CRM platforms (Salesforce experience would be advantageous).
  • Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Working alongside third-party IT providers.
  • Supporting IT projects and system implementations.

Sector experience isn't important—we're open to candidates from a variety of industries.

Personal Attributes

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly and approachable.
  • Patient and customer-focused.
  • Comfortable supporting users of all technical abilities.
  • Proactive and keen to get involved across the wider business.
  • Organised with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Confident managing multiple priorities.
  • Happy working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Someone who enjoys taking ownership rather than simply escalating issues.

Above all, you'll be someone who enjoys helping people, whether that's delivering an IT project or resetting a password for the fifth time that week with the same level of professionalism.

Why Join?

Opportunity to join a growing business where IT is recognised as a key function. Broad, varied role with exposure to infrastructure, systems and projects. Work closely with an experienced Head of IT & Facilities who is keen to mentor and develop the successful candidate. Genuine opportunity to shape the role as the IT function continues to evolve. Collaborative culture with exposure across every area of the business.

How to prepare for a job interview at Axon Moore

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
