I am delighted to now be recruiting a newly created Financial Controller position for a highly successful and fast growing, privately owned SME based in North Yorkshire! Established just over 15 years ago, the business has experienced consecutive year on year growth and now has over 45 sites across the UK. The Head Offices are based in Carnaby where this role will be based 4 days per week, reporting into the CFO and Commercial Director, overseeing a team of 3 direct reports.
The position would be ideally suited to someone ACA/ACCA qualified currently in a Financial Controller/Manager role, looking for their next FC move. The role will be focused on managing and developing the finance team, overseeing the finance operations and management accounts, developing robust financial reporting and assisting in the strategic planning and forecasting to drive the business forward.
Responsibilities- Overseeing and managing the finance team (3 direct reports)
- Provide leadership to the finance team and ensure effective financial accounting & operations
- Provide expert financial insight into the operations of the business to support colleagues
- Coordinate financial systems and controls with the care operations and support teams of the business
- Ensuring timely and reliable monthly management accounts are prepared
- Preparation of annual budgets and monitoring of financial performance monthly against budgets
- Managing cashflow of the business and ensuring projections flag any positive or negative variances
- Reporting to the operating board, flagging up any key areas of concern and opportunities for enhancing profitability
- Responsible for management information tracking key performance indicators of the business
- Management of production of year-end statutory accounts
- Responsible for understanding and complying with statutory and legal requirements including VAT and corporation tax compliance, the CIS scheme and current accounting standards
- Be a fully qualified accountant - ACA or ACCA ideally
- Have a proven track record in developing and managing a team
- Have excellent communication and strong leadership skills
- Have previous experience of Sage (Desirable)
- Hybrid working after the initial 6 month bedding in period
- Fully supported role with future progression to FD opportunity within a high growth and successful SME
