The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the shareholders, you will provide financial leadership across the group, partnering with the Boards and senior leadership teams to support strategic decision making, commercial performance and long-term business planning.
This is a broad SME Finance Director role, combining strategic input with hands on leadership of an established finance function. You'll inherit a capable finance team, robust financial processes and a well-managed transition with the support of the retiring Finance Director.
The business operates across construction, property and asset backed activities, creating a varied and commercially engaging role with exposure to development, investment and operational decision-making.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the finance function across the group.
- Producing high quality management information, budgets, forecasts and cashflow reporting.
- Acting as a trusted adviser to shareholders and the Boards.
- Supporting commercial decision making, investment appraisals and strategic planning.
- Managing banking relationships, funding and financial governance.
- Leading and developing an experienced finance team.
- Driving continuous improvement across systems, reporting and financial processes.
- Working closely with external advisers including auditors, accountants and lenders.
This is a highly visible leadership position within an owner managed business where commercial judgement, relationship building and a pragmatic approach are just as important as technical expertise.
The Individual
We are seeking a commercially minded finance leader who enjoys working within entrepreneurial SME environments.
You may already be operating as a Finance Director or be an ambitious Financial Controller or Head of Finance ready to step into your first Group Finance Director role.
Experience within construction, property, real estate, or other project or asset-intensive sectors would be advantageous.
Key attributes include:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Strong commercial and strategic capability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Hands on leadership style with the ability to operate both strategically and operationally.
- Experience leading finance teams and developing robust financial reporting.
- Pragmatic, collaborative approach suited to an owner managed business.
Why Apply?
- Rare succession opportunity with an established and successful privately owned group.
- Broad, varied role spanning complementary businesses.
