Financial Accountant in Leeds

We’re working with a successful and growing distribution business based in Leeds that is looking to appoint an experienced Financial Accountant to support financial reporting, financial controls and the day-to-day finance operations of the business. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and commercially aware finance professional to play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring strong financial controls and providing reliable financial information to support business performance and growth. Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly financial reports and support the production of management accounts. Manage month-end and year-end processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and intercompany balances where applicable. Oversee bank reconciliations, general ledger postings and the integrity of financial records. Manage VAT returns and ensure compliance with relevant financial and statutory reporting requirements. Support the preparation of annual accounts and liaise with external auditors. Monitor stock and inventory accounting, ensuring accurate valuation and reconciliation of stock balances. Reconcile supplier and customer accounts, investigating discrepancies and resolving outstanding issues. Support accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control processes where required. Assist with cash flow reporting, working capital management and monitoring debtor and creditor balances. Review financial processes and controls, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy. Work closely with operational and commercial teams to provide financial information and investigate variances. Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis as required. Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards and relevant financial regulations. Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance systems, processes and reporting procedures.
