Axon Moore are supporting a thriving manufacturing SME in Sheffield to recruit their Financial Controller.
This is a well-established, owner managed business with a proud history that has ambitious plans to develop further markets and revenue streams.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the business as Financial Controller, with a direct route to becoming Finance Director in the near future.
You will be supported by a highly experienced executive team, as well as a highly capable finance function.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of monthly management accounts and financial statements
- Manage the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, working closely with department heads and operational teams
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and cost control, and ensure effective treasury management
- Oversee all statutory reporting, tax compliance (VAT, corporation tax, etc.), and liaison with auditors
- Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets
- Partner with operations to provide financial insights on manufacturing costs, inventory, pricing, and margin analysis
- Support strategic planning and investment decisions with detailed financial modelling and scenario analysis
- Drive system and process improvements, including ERP enhancements and automation of financial processes
- Report financial performance and key KPIs to the Board and assist in strategic decision-making
- Further development and refining of the costing system and information
- Ongoing development and management of the stock ordering processes
Ideal candidate
- Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) with experience in a senior finance role within an SME organisation
- Experience within the manufacturing sector would be highly desirable
- Experience working within a privately owned/owner managed or family-owned business between Β£20m and Β£50m turnover would be highly desirable
