Payroll Team Leader |Leeds | £40,000 | Office-based | Flexible start & finish times
We are working with a growing business in Leeds that is looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Team Leader to join its busy and expanding payroll function.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will take responsibility for the processing of payroll, payroll compliance, legislation and reporting, whilst managing and supporting a small team.
The role would suit an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working in a busy environment, can manage competing priorities, and is confident taking ownership of the payroll function.
The Role
- Taking responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of weekly and monthly payrolls
- Processing payrolls for a bureau, managing multiple payrolls and deadlines
- Ensuring payroll processes comply with HMRC requirements and current legislation
- Taking ownership of payroll reporting and reconciliations
- Managing and supporting a small payroll team
- Reviewing payrolls and ensuring accuracy before completion
- Dealing with payroll queries and resolving issues
- Keeping up to date with changes to payroll legislation and ensuring these are implemented correctly
- Using Excel to analyse payroll data and produce reports
- Managing workloads and priorities within a busy and growing function
- Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiencies
About You
- Strong payroll processing experience, ideally including both weekly and monthly payrolls
- Previous experience of leading or managing a small team
- Good knowledge of payroll legislation and HMRC compliance
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with payroll data and reporting
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- The ability to manage multiple payrolls and competing deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- A proactive approach and the ability to take ownership
