HR Manager - 3 Month Contract
Location: Sheffield
Working pattern: 3 days per week on site

An established engineering and manufacturing business is looking for an experienced HR Manager to join the team on an initial 3-month contract.
This is a hands‑on, generalist HR role with a strong focus on Employee Relations. You will provide day‑to‑day HR support across the business, working closely with managers and employees and providing practical advice across a broad range of people matters.
The Role
Reporting directly to the HR Director, you will take responsibility for a range of generalist HR activities, with particular emphasis on Employee Relations.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing a varied Employee Relations caseload, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters
- Providing practical and commercially focused HR advice to managers
- Supporting managers through the full employee lifecycle
- Advising on policies, procedures and employment legislation
- Supporting absence management and employee wellbeing
- Coaching and supporting line managers on HR and ER matters
- Assisting with HR projects and wider people initiatives as required
- Maintaining accurate HR records and ensuring processes are followed consistently
About You
- Strong generalist HR experience
- Proven Employee Relations experience
- Confidence managing complex and sensitive HR cases
- Experience working with and advising line managers
- Good knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
- A practical, hands‑on approach
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to work independently and prioritise effectively
- Previous experience within engineering, manufacturing or another operational environment would be advantageous
This would suit an experienced HR Manager who is immediately available and comfortable stepping into a hands‑on role for an initial 3-month period.
The role is Sheffield-based with 3 days per week on site and an immediate start.
