Axon Moore is delighted to be working with a dynamic SME based just north of Preston, currently seeking an ambitious Management Accountant to join their team. The company is currently navigating an exciting period of transformation, including the rollout of a new ERP system, where you’ll play a pivotal role in all finance-related aspects. This is a great chance to contribute meaningful improvements, streamline processes, and drive efficiency across the business.
The role offers full responsibility for the finance function, covering management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow oversight, monthly MI reporting, gross margin analysis, payroll, and the leadership of a small finance team.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts
- Develop and maintain product costing models to support pricing and profitability analysis
- Conduct detailed gross profit analysis, identifying drivers of margin variance and opportunities for improvement
- Lead the annual budgeting process, including forecasts and reforecasts
- Partner with commercial, production, and operational teams to provide financial support and challenge decision-making
- Support the Finance Director with ad hoc projects, reporting, and business improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with financial controls and governance requirements
The ideal candidate:
- Manufacturing experience would be preferable, or exposure to product costings and gross margin analysis
- A willingness to roll their sleeves up and undertake day to day finance activities
- A genuine desire to actively contribute new ideas and initiatives across the business
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact appropriately with individuals at every level of the business and successfully manage external relationships
- Excellent excel skills
- Results-focussed, a can-do attitude and the ability to constructively challenge ideas
