The Opportunity

We’re partnering with a private equity-backed engineering services business on an exciting growth journey, with a current turnover of circa £20m and clear plans to scale significantly over the coming years. They’ve built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality electrical solutions across commercial environments and now they’re looking for a Sales Manager to take ownership of the commercial function and play a pivotal role in driving the next phase of growth. This is more than just a sales role; it’s an opportunity to build, shape, and lead a function, with genuine influence and visibility at board level.

What You’ll Be Driving

  • You’ll take full ownership of sales strategy and execution across a broad and growing service offering, including electrical installation, maintenance, compliance, and renewable energy solutions (solar, battery storage, EV charging).
  • Developing and delivering a UK-wide sales strategy aligned with ambitious growth targets.
  • Identifying and unlocking new opportunities across commercial, FM, retail, and public-sector markets.
  • Building and leading a high-performing sales/business development team as the company scales.
  • Leading key bids, tenders, and commercial negotiations.
  • Establishing long-term, high-value client relationships.
  • Collaborating closely with operational and technical teams to ensure seamless delivery.

What Success Looks Like

  • Strong, consistent revenue growth and margin improvement.
  • A robust, visible pipeline of high-quality opportunities.
  • Expansion into new sectors and key accounts.
  • A scalable, structured, high-performing sales function.

What They’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in a Sales Manager or senior BD role ideally within electrical contracting, M&E, or construction.
  • Strong knowledge of UK markets including compliance, installation, and/or renewables.
  • A track record of winning new business and exceeding revenue targets.
  • Experience with tenders, frameworks, and commercial negotiations.
  • Leadership capability with the ambition to build and grow a team.
  • A proactive, strategic mindset with strong commercial awareness.
  • (Experience across FM, retail rollouts, public sector, or green energy is a strong advantage.)

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Private equity backing — real investment, clear growth strategy, and momentum.
  • Huge scope for progression — this role is expected to evolve as the business scales (think Head of Sales/Commercial leadership).
  • High earning potential — a genuinely strong and uncapped commission structure.
  • Real ownership — shape the sales function from the ground up.
  • Exposure to high-growth sectors including renewable energy and sustainability.
  • A leadership team that values autonomy, ideas, and delivery.

Package & Benefits

  • £60,000 base salary.
  • Very generous bonus/commission scheme (uncapped earning potential).
  • Company vehicle.
  • Pension scheme.
  • 25+ days holiday + bank holidays.
  • Ongoing training & professional development.
  • The opportunity to play a key role in scaling a £20m+ business.

The Process

A straightforward, efficient process — typically 2–3 stages with quick turnaround.
