Axon Moore is partnering with a well-established, operationally complex Manufacturing business to appoint a Head of Finance into a key leadership position.
This is a commercially focused finance role, working closely with the Managing Director and wider leadership team to provide the financial insight, challenge and analysis that supports business performance and decision-making.
You will have overall responsibility for the financial function, with direct leadership of the Finance Manager, as well as oversight of wider operations. The role will combine financial leadership, cost accounting, operational analysis, business partnering and systems/process improvement, with a particular focus on improving the flow of operational data into meaningful financial information.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of monthly management accounts, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow and financial reporting to the Board.
- Supporting the MD with investment appraisal, business planning and wider commercial decision-making.
- Providing insightful analysis around margins, costs, variances, efficiency and operational performance.
- Acting as a trusted financial partner to Production, Projects, Commercial and Operations.
- Leading purchasing and stores, with responsibility for supplier performance, stock, procurement controls and cost improvement.
- Driving improvements to financial systems, controls and processes, including the integration of finance data.
- Leading the development and implementation of an earned value and WIP framework, working closely with operational teams.
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong operational and cost accounting experience, ideally gained within a manufacturing, engineering or similarly complex environment.
You will be comfortable working beyond traditional finance, engaging with operational teams and translating financial information into clear, commercially relevant insight. Experience of multiple ERP systems, inventory, purchasing and WIP/earned value would be highly advantageous.
